Continental Drift

Continental Drift (A. Wegener): a theory according to which the Sial masses of continents, lighter and more rigid when compared to the Sima we “float” in, can undergo remarkable shiftings through geological times, detaching from the primary continental single crust of Sial, called Pangaea; the main detachment of American continents of Pangea had started in the early Mesozoic, giving origin to the Atlantic Ocean; the main directions of such a shifting are towards the Equator and west.
