Flux

Flux: in the process of producing synthetic materials in a crucible using the Flux Growth Method, “flux” refers to a mixture of Metal Oxides (such as Vanadium Oxide, Lead Fluoride, Molybdenum Oxide, Lithium Oxide, Boric Acid, etc.) with a melting point lower than that of the nutrient. The flux acts as a solvent for the nutrient (the powdered oxide components of the elements that will form the synthetic crystal).
