Iron Oxide

Iron Oxide: chemical compounds formed by Iron (which occurs in different oxidation states) and Oxygen, serving as the main components of numerous minerals. There are many combinations of these elements, including Iron hydroxides and Iron oxyhydroxides, formed through reactions between water and Iron oxide. The primary iron-bearing minerals, from which most iron and its derivatives are extracted, consist—besides Pyrite—of Iron oxides and hydroxides.
