Magnetite

Magnetite: a mineral belonging to the group of Iron minerals, which also includes Goethite, Hematite, Lepidocrocite, Siderite, and Thuringite. Its chemical formula is Fe₃O₄. It is opaque, with a luster ranging from metallic to dull, and has a black iron color. It crystallizes in the Cubic System and appears in octahedral and rhombic dodecahedral crystal forms, as well as in massive aggregates. It is found in sedimentary deposits of magmatic origin and as an accessory component in many rocks.
