Alessandra Altieri got the PhD in Earth Sciences at Sapienza University of Rome in 2023, and actually is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Mineralogy at the Department of Earth Sciences – Sapienza University of Rome.

Her research activity focuses on experimental and theoretical crystal chemistry of the tourmaline supergroup including: history of growth and chemical evolution of pegmatitic tourmaline crystals, color-causing mechanisms in gem-quality tourmalines and the effects of thermal and irradiation treatment. Other research interests concern the reconstruction of petrological and geochemical conditions of complex pegmatitic systems.
