«My name is Luigi Mariani, I was born on the 31^st of March 1946, in a small town close to Milan. I have always dealt with rotating tools like lathe. Since 1969 I have been a mineral collector. My interest in gem cutting world has been growing since the end of the 80’s. It was after my first “gem”, a simple “ialino” quartz, that my passion became so strong that I no longer dedicate any time to minerals.

I have always had a passion for “innovation” and “creativity”: I applied this concept to my job and to my hobbies. This is the reason why l have always tried cutting “impossible materials” that even professional gem-cutters struggle to cut (very soft materials). “Never give up, even a failure can be an important lesson learnt!”.

Thanks to my professional experience, I was able to exploit my understanding of mechanics of precision and apply it to gem cutting».
