Piero De Stefano

Dr. Piero De Stefano is a jeweler, gemologist, appraiser, scholar and lover of gems and jewelry, owner of Studio De Stefano Gemmologi Associati based in Rome. Until 2021 he was First Consul of the University and “Nobil Collegio Degli Orefici e Argentieri dell'Alma città di Roma”, founded in 1508, at which he taught several courses.

For many years he was vice president and head of the Rome branch of the Istituto Gemmologico Italiano, whose analysis laboratory he also directed.

An expert in precious stones since 1982, he has been a member of the examination commission for entry in the register of experts and appraisers of the C.C.I.A.A. of Rome.

He collaborates on a regular basis with specialized auction houses, the Civil and Criminal Courts and the Public Prosecutor`s Office as well as other State and Private Bodies and Organizations and has collaborated with major Italian television networks (RAI 1 and 2, Mediaset).

As a lecturer, he has also collaborated with the University of Rome La Sapienza and with all the main professional associations, participating as a speaker in numerous conferences and events.

As a creator and curator of industry-specific exhibitions, he has written several publications, both technical and popular, and numerous articles for industry and non-industry magazines.

He has held positions on the board of presidents of the Roman Goldsmiths Association and the National Retailers Federation and on the national board of Confartigianato Orafi.

He is currently a lecturer at the European Institute of Design (IED) and the Quasar Institute for Advanced Design.
