Dr. Thomas Hainschwang is director and founder of the GGTL Liechtenstein laboratory - opened in 1996 - and the GGTL Belgium laboratory in Antwerp – opened in 2023.

Dr. Hainschwang holds a PhD in physics from the University of Nantes on type Ib diamonds and he has been working on the analysis of diamonds, colored stones and pearls for the past 27 years.

He is a respected expert in the field of gemological research, and was honored by both the prestigious Antonio C. Bonanno Award for Excellence in Gemology in 2015 and the Gemmological Excellence Award of the Swiss Gemmological Society in 2017 - both Awards that recognize those who have made significant contributions to the gemological field.
