Andradite Garnet

Andradite Garnet: a Calcium-Iron member of the Garnet Group with the formula Ca3Fe2 (SiO4)3, fully miscible with Grossular (CalciumAluminum Garnet) in all proportions. It appears yellow (due to Iron, sometimes with Titanium and Manganese) or green (due to Chromium) in the valuable Demantoid variety. Density: 3.85 g/cm³; Mohs hardness: 6.5; refractive index: 1.89.
