Granite: a felsic plutonic or intrusive rock, among the most abundant on the Earth’s surface, characterized by an association of Quartz (20–60%), Alkali Feldspars (usually Orthoclase), and often Calcium-Sodium Feldspars (mostly Oligoclase), along with one or more mafic minerals from the Mica Group (Biotite) or Amphiboles (green Hornblende). Muscovite Mica is sometimes present, and the most common accessory minerals include Apatite, Magnetite, Titanite, Tourmaline, and Zircon. The texture is generally holocrystalline granular, with a grain size ranging from medium to coarse, occasionally containing megacrysts. The occurrence is typically in large masses (batholiths), from which differentiated or non-differentiated veins often extend.
