Polishing: in gemstone processing, the phase of cutting operations focused on smoothing the facets (faceting) to give them flatness and a mirror-like finish, facilitating the passage of light entering and exiting the stone, and enhancing its luster, brilliance, sparkle, and, when present, dispersion.
