On February 19, 2024, The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) inaugurated its newest laboratory facility in the heart of Dubai, UAE.
Located within the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) at the illustrious Uptown Tower, this cutting-edge laboratory signifies a strategic move by the GIA to bolster its services in one of the world’s most pivotal diamond trading hubs.
The facility is equipped to cater to the needs of clients operating within the Dubai free trade zones.
Commenting on the significance of this milestone, Tom Moses, Executive Vice President and Chief Laboratory and Research Officer at GIA, emphasized the importance of expanding consumer protection measures and meeting industry demands. Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, expressed his delight at GIA’s presence in Dubai, highlighting the strategic importance of the city within the global diamond supply chain.
