Asian Hubs of the Gemstone Industry: Hong Kong and India Take Center Stage with Four B2B Trade Shows in March 2026

Within the international trade fair landscape of March 2026, Asia once again confirms its central role in the global gemological and jewelry sector, concentrating some of the most significant events on the industry calendar across major commercial hubs and fast-growing markets. From Hong Kong — a historic crossroads for the diamond and pearl trade — to India’s leading cities, where manufacturing tradition and industrial innovation coexist, the continent presents four world-renowned events this month.

Hong Kong on Display: A Double Appointment

Hong Kong – HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show (March 2–6, 2026)

At the beginning of March, Hong Kong opens the Asian calendar with the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, hosted at AsiaWorld-Expo. The event is entirely dedicated to the industry’s raw materials: diamonds, colored gemstones, natural and cultured pearls, with strong international representation across the entire supply chain.

The show continues to stand out as a key reference point for the global wholesale trade, offering an up-to-date snapshot of the international gemstone market, emerging sources, and increasingly demanding quality standards.

Hong Kong – HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (March 4–8, 2026)

Just days later, the focus shifts from raw materials to finished jewelry with the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, taking place from March 4 to 8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

As the natural counterpart to the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, this fair showcases fine jewelry collections, commercial production, contemporary design, and technological solutions for the goldsmithing sector. Exhibitors present creations that reflect the tastes of international markets, with growing attention to customization, sustainability, and innovation in both materials and manufacturing techniques.

India: From Chennai to Bangalore

India, Chennai – Gem & Jewellery India International Fair 2026 (March 6–8, 2026)

In the first half of the month, India hosts the Gem & Jewellery India International Fair (GJIIF) in Chennai, running from March 6 to 8, 2026. Conceived primarily as a commercial platform for the South Indian market, the fair brings together manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers specializing in gold jewelry, diamonds, and colored gemstones.

The event reflects the distinctive characteristics of local taste — deeply rooted in tradition yet open to contemporary interpretations and new distribution strategies.

India – IIJS Tritiya and IGJME Bharat, Bangalore (March 21–23, 2026)

Toward the end of March, Bangalore hosts IIJS Tritiya, alongside IGJME Bharat, two events organized by the GJEPC that further strengthen India’s position as a manufacturing and technological powerhouse in the gemological and jewelry sector.

IIJS Tritiya focuses on finished jewelry and the needs of both domestic and international markets, while IGJME Bharat is dedicated to machinery, technologies, and industrial solutions for production. Together, the two fairs offer a comprehensive overview of the sector’s evolution — from design to manufacturing — highlighting the crucial role of technological innovation in sustaining the global competitiveness of India’s jewelry industry.
