Conceived in honor of the centenary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, the competition has been promoted on a non-profit basis by the Labigem laboratory. The initiative has garnered the esteemed patronage of the Chamber of Commerce of Vicenza and collaboration with distinguished partners such as the Club for UNESCO Vicenza, the Jewelry Museum of Vicenza, the Egyptian Museum of Turin, and the Museum of the Sky and Earth of San Giovanni in Persiceto (BO).

Targeting young Italian creatives under 35, the competition featured two dynamic categories: Category 1, “Very Young Talents” (students from lower secondary schools), and Category 2, “Young Talents” (students from upper secondary schools, academies, university courses, master’s programs, and other equivalent institutions).

Participants were tasked with crafting a contemporary jewelry piece inspired by Tutankhamun’s treasure and ancient Egypt. The primary goal was to kindle participants’ creativity and inspire them to reinterpret Tutankhamun’s rich historical and artistic heritage in a modern context. This initiative seeks to commemorate the significant historical anniversary while promoting jewelry culture among younger generations, supporting their talents, and fostering dialogue with businesses in the goldsmith-jewelry sector.

The competition witnessed an outpouring of enthusiasm, engaging 26 national schools and institutions, collectively submitting 125 works. A judging panel, composed of experts in gemmology, jewelry design, goldsmithing, Egyptology, and the history of jewelry, meticulously selected four winners for each category.

The eight winners will be honored during the award ceremony, showcasing their projects to the public. Beyond the winning works, the event will feature additional noteworthy projects. It will also spotlight prestigious goldsmith companies and laboratories from the Veneto region that played a pivotal role in bringing the winning projects to life. These entities will exhibit jewelry created specifically for this special occasion.

The event will not only highlight the skills of young creatives who interpreted the competition’s theme with originality but also underscore the importance of initiatives aimed at fostering the discovery of new talents in the goldsmith sector.

The competition will be broadcast live on “The Jewellery Golden Cloud” platform, complete with simultaneous translation services, allowing a wider audience to experience the excitement of the award ceremony and appreciate the creations of the young talents who were able to interpret the theme of the competition with originality.
