The latest issue of InColor for the Autumn/Winter 2024 season has been recently released by the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA). Now in its 52nd edition, this publication presents articles that explore emerging trends and the art of gemstone craftsmanship.

This issue features three articles that provide an in-depth look at Idar-Oberstein: the first by Michael Seubert (“Idar-Oberstein – Centuries of Excellence”), and two others by Martin P. Steinbach (“The Timeless Art of Gemstone Carving in Idar-Oberstein” and “The Museums in the German Gem Paradise”). The town, located in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany, is renowned worldwide for its long-standing tradition in gemstone and semi-precious stone craftsmanship. With over 500 years of history, Idar-Oberstein has established itself as one of the leading global centers for gemstone cutting.

Agnieszka Klikowicz-Kosior and Michal Kosior explore the renowned amber from Gdańsk, Poland, considered one of the finest and most famous in the world. Thanks to its long history of production and trade, Gdańsk has become an epicenter of amber excellence, located in one of the historically richest regions for this precious material, often referred to as “Baltic gold”.
Also featured is an in-depth report by Ioannis Alexandris, who reviews the most recent gemstone and jewelry auctions, highlighting emerging trends and sales records, offering a unique perspective for collectors and industry professionals alike.
