The inaugural IGI Alumni Italy Online Symposium, a virtual seminar dedicated to members of the IGI – International Gemological Institute Italy Alumni Association, will take place on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
This new series of online events is designed to provide timely updates on key topics of interest to gemologists and professionals in the jewelry industry, presented by IGI Instructors from Italy’s educational districts.
Taking part in the first edition will be Flavio Butini, President of the IGI Alumni Italy Association and IGI Instructor in Rome; Francesco Sequino, IGI Instructor in Marcianise (CE); and Annalaura Sita, IGI Instructor in Ascoli Piceno.

Flavio Butini will open the session with a presentation entitled “Laboratory Notes: Alterations and Counterfeits; Gemological Identification, Nomenclature, and Disclosure Policy”. His talk will explore a topic of particular relevance to laboratory analysts, following up on discussions previously addressed both at the 7th National Conference of Gemmology held in Naples in July 2025 and in the pages of IGR – Italian Gemological Review.
Francesco Sequino will share a presentation titled “Overview of Coral Treatments and Provenance”, drawing on the experience gained since IGI’s first Coral course held at the Oromare Goldsmith Center of Marcianise, Caserta, in 2020.
Annalaura Sita will shift the symposium’s focus to diamonds with her presentation “Natural vs. Synthetic Diamonds: Current Market Trends”, offering an update on pricing and market fluctuations in recent months.
The online symposium will be conducted via Zoom platform in Italian language only.
Access is reserved for IGI Alumni members with an active registration and can be requested through the dedicated web page on www.igialumni-italy.org.
