The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has announced a new initiative aimed at offering direct grading services to jewelry and gemstone professionals in Italy. The program, titled IGI Grading On Site, will operate from December 1–3, 2025, at the Oromare Jewelry Center in Marcianise, near Naples. The initiative will be held in collaboration with Gem-Tech Gemological Institute.
For the first time outside major trade fairs, IGI specialists will conduct full jewelry and gemstone grading directly on location, issuing official IGI documentation at the end of the evaluation process. The temporary service hub at Oromare offers jewelers and gemstone dealers access to the institute’s grading expertise without the need for shipping or extended turnaround times.

Developed in collaboration with IGI’s Antwerp headquarters and the institute’s team of instructor-gemologists at Oromare, the three-day event aims to simplify logistics for the Italian trade while maintaining IGI’s established quality standards. The initiative is intended to reduce costs and waiting times by handling all procedures on-site — an aspect likely to appeal to local industry members involved in shipments toIGI headquarter implying paperwork.
The Oromare Jewelry Center, a focal point for manufacturing and design activity in southern Italy, provides the setting for this pilot project. IGI’s presence there underscores the organization’s ongoing commitment to delivering gemological services that align with evolving industry needs and support the country’s longstanding jewelry-making tradition.
