New venues for the traditional and popular jewellery fairs of Hong Kong. One of the two classic September events, the Jewellery & Gem WORLD (JGW), is being temporarily relocated from Hong Kong to the Singapore EXPO from 27 to 30 September 2022 under the name JGW Singapore.
This move follows the persistence of a serious health emergency situation affecting Hong Kong. It also intends to provide a more accessible and convenient location to international suppliers and buyers. The venue change is a one-time special arrangement that will only apply in 2022. Approximately two weeks before the Singapore event, September 16-19, 2022, the other well-established event, Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong Special Edition, will be continued at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Retaining at least one meeting in its traditional location is strategically significant as the organizers of Informa hope to attract visitors from China once cross-border travel restrictions are presumably lifted. The changes imposed by the distancing period will continue to be felt as some digital livestreaming sessions aimed at mainland China and international audiences now are becoming a permanent part of the schedule.
Informa Markets runs HK’s jewelry shows along with more than 230 events and is the largest trade show organizer in Asia, with more than 60,000 exhibitors. Informa Markets’ decision follows the recent launch of Jewellery, Gem & Technology (JGT) Dubai, a partnership with Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) that has tried to take advantage of the relatively less stringent Covid-19 containment rules in place in Dubai. In addition, Informa Markets will inaugurate Jewellery & Gem ASEAN Bangkok this November.
