D.OR.Campania, the Campania Jewelry District, was previewed at VicenzaOro September 2024. This new district, represented by the acronym D.OR.Campania, brings together tradition and innovation through the three hubs of Naples, Marcianise, and Torre del Greco. It represents two millennia of jewelry history projected into the future.
D.OR.Campania is built upon a network of enterprises. The key players represent the production hubs in the region: Il Tarì, Oromare, Borgo Orefici, and Torre del Greco. These distinct entities, each with strong identities, are based on artisanal excellence now leading the way in Italy and Europe. The working group also includes Confindustria Caserta, Fedepreziosi Campania – Confcommercio, and Assocoral, thanks to a shared memorandum of understanding.

The presentation conference took place on Sunday, September 8, 2024, and was accompanied by an institutional stand at the fair showcasing collections of both antique and contemporary jewelry, highlighting the excellence of Campania’s manufacturing tradition.
The president of D.OR.Campania, Vincenzo Giannotti, stated: «For the first time, we are bringing together the true DNA of Campania: tradition, production, commercial services, and retail, all unified in a new institutional framework. We are talking about approximately 600 production companies, 1,400 retailers, and over 6,000 employees. Our goal is to give unity and international momentum to the millennia-old tradition of Campanian goldsmithing». The management team of the D.OR.Campania network includes Vincenzo Aucella, Roberto De Laurentiis, and Gennaro Mincione.
The initial move was driven by the Campania Region, spearheaded by the Regional Minister for Productive Activities, Antonio Marchiello. «I believe we can enhance this sector, which is already highly valuable. Entrepreneurs have believed in it, and the Region is supporting them because if businesses grow, so does employment — this is a paradigm we do not invent», said Minister Marchiello.
The Campania Jewelry District — the first example of a gold sector supply chain system in Italy — was established as a network of enterprises on April 23, 2024. The common goal is to enhance the Campanian gold sector in all its facets, from production and retail to training, highlighting existing activities such as Tarì Design School, “la Bulla” (Borgo Orefici), and the Istituto Degni in Torre del Greco, along with the extensive network of jewelry stores throughout the region. Each project participant contributes their expertise and resources with a clear vision: to combine the tradition of excellence in the sector with innovative projects in training, promotion, internationalization, and new technologies.

The Campania Jewelry District aims to become the sole interlocutor for the Region on development issues and innovation opportunities, including access to European structural funds. An important goal is training, both through scholarships for goldsmith courses and through the organization of new training activities necessary for the System. Managerial and organizational training courses will be established to create new professional skills, such as the role of District Innovation Manager, whose purpose will be to introduce new process management methods within the gold supply chain.
Innovation will be a key focus with the creation of an Innovation Hub benefiting all supply chain actors, dedicated to research and innovation in the production system, material processing techniques, and new technologies. Major themes will include sustainability and the circular economy, from supply chain management to innovation in production cycles.

Another strategic theme is internationalization, achieved through innovative communication and promotion strategies, highlighting the unique aspects of regional gold production and establishing new competitive positions abroad.
