The eighth edition of the “Diamond and Colored Stones: National Conference of Gemmology” is scheduled to take place on June 22nd and 23rd, 2026, in Pavia, Italy. Organized by the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Pavia, the event will be held at the University’s “Aula Disegno” located at Piazza Leonardo Da Vinci, 5.
The conference is held under the patronage of the CRISTAL research center, the University of Catania, the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology (SIMP), and the Italian Crystallographic Association (AIC).
The title for this edition of the conference is “Tradition and Innovation in Gemology: The Scientific Method as a Bridge Between Past and Future”. The objective of the organizers is to provide professional updates and technical exchange between academic research and the gemological market. The event aims to consolidate a meeting point for the training of scientists, analysts, and professionals in the precious stones sector.

To mark the occasion, SIMP and AIC are funding three scholarships (two valued at €250 and one at €200). These grants are reserved for young members to facilitate their participation by covering travel, accommodation, and registration fees.
